About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Housekeeping Manager to lead our housekeeping operations across a busy apartment hotel environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and guest satisfaction while effectively managing housekeeping staff, daily room allocations, inspections, productivity and operational requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housekeeping professional who is organised, hands-on and confident leading a diverse housekeeping team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day housekeeping operations of the apartment hotel.
- Lead, train, supervise and motivate housekeeping team members and supervisors.
- Prepare daily room allocations and ensure adequate staffing based on occupancy and operational requirements.
- Monitor room attendants' productivity and ensure rooms are completed within required timeframes.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, apartments, public areas and back-of-house areas.
- Ensure all rooms meet the hotel's cleanliness, presentation and quality standards before release to Front Office.
- Ensure VIP, priority and early-arrival rooms are inspected and ready within required timeframes.
- Work closely with Front Office and hotel management to coordinate room status, early arrivals, late departures, maintenance issues and guest requests.
- Monitor housekeeping standards and take immediate corrective action when standards are not met.
- Manage linen, amenities, chemicals, cleaning equipment and other housekeeping supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate orders with suppliers to ensure adequate supplies are available.
- Ensure housekeeping equipment and cleaning chemicals are used correctly and safely.
- Maintain accurate housekeeping records, checklists, productivity reports and staff attendance records.
- Investigate and respond appropriately to guest complaints relating to cleanliness or housekeeping services.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management of housekeeping employees.
- Conduct regular toolbox meetings, team briefings and training sessions.
- Ensure employees comply with company policies, hotel procedures, WHS requirements and housekeeping SOPs.
- Manage staff performance, attendance, grooming and workplace conduct in accordance with company policies.
- Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and service quality.
- Work with hotel management to achieve guest satisfaction and housekeeping performance targets.
- Ensure all cleaning activities comply with health, safety and hygiene requirements.
- Assist with audits and maintain housekeeping standards consistently across the property.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Housekeeping Manager, Executive Housekeeper, Assistant Executive Housekeeper in a hotel or serviced-apartment environment.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Experience managing a large housekeeping team.
- Excellent knowledge of hotel room cleaning and presentation standards.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Front Office, Maintenance and Hotel Management.
- Experience with room inspections and housekeeping quality control.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to manage staff performance and address workplace issues professionally.
- Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays when required.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to assist the team during busy operational periods.
Desirable
- Previous experience in apartment hotels or serviced apartments.
- Experience with hotel housekeeping systems and room-status systems.
- Experience with Opera & Deputy or similar hotel property-management systems.
- Knowledge of housekeeping productivity standards and labour management.
- Experience managing linen, chemicals and housekeeping inventory.
- Relevant hotel management or housekeeping qualifications.
