About the role
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our talented culinary team at Monelli's in Burns Beach, Western Australia. As our Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in upholding the high standards of our Italian restaurant, collaborating closely with the Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations and ensuring exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
This is a full-time position based in our modern kitchen located in the vibrant coastal suburb of Burns Beach.
What you'll be doing
- Assist the Head Chef in the overall management and coordination of the kitchen team
- Contribute to the development and implementation of seasonal menus that showcase the finest local and seasonal produce
- Ensure consistently high food quality, presentation and timely delivery of dishes
- Monitor and maintain kitchen hygiene, safety and efficiency standards
- Provide guidance, training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to foster a cohesive and guest-centric environment
- Support the implementation of cost control measures and inventory management
What we're looking for
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent in a high-quality restaurant environment
- Strong working knowledge of Italian cuisine and culinary techniques
- Excellent time management, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- A team player with the ability to lead and inspire kitchen staff
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to upholding food safety and hygiene standards
- Passion for using fresh, seasonal ingredients to create exceptional dining experiences
- Relevant culinary qualifications or training
