Practising across the CNC domains, clinical service and consultancy, leadership, research, education, and service planning, you will provide expert mental health nursing care to CYP with complex and chronic presentations related to abuse, neglect, and trauma. You will play a central role in developing, implementing, and evaluating care plans, while also supporting carers and professionals to deliver consistent, trauma-informed care.
This role extends beyond direct care to include clinical leadership, system consultation, and capacity building across the OOHC and mental health sectors. You will contribute to staff education, service development, and quality improvement initiatives, while modelling best practice and maintaining professional standards aligned with NSW Health frameworks and codes of conduct.
Selection Criteria

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation
- Describe your experience providing specialist mental health nursing care to children and young people with complex trauma, attachment difficulties, and high-risk presentations. How do you ensure your practice is trauma-informed and responsive to individual needs?
- Provide an example of how you have delivered clinical leadership or expert consultation within a multidisciplinary or interagency context. How did your input influence care planning, decision-making, or outcomes for the child or young person?
- Outline your experience contributing to education, service development, or quality improvement initiatives. How have you used evidence, research, or evaluation to strengthen clinical practice or service delivery?
- Applicants must possess and Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2) Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
