Working within Council’s Disaster Management and Community Resilience team, you’ll be at the centre of coordinating initiatives that build long-term resilience. From leading preparedness activities and supporting emergency response operations, to driving recovery efforts and continuous improvement, your work will have a direct and lasting impact across the region.
What you will be doing:
You are a capable and motivated disaster management professional with the experience and mindset to make a real impact. You bring:
- Strong knowledge of Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements, legislation and emergency management principles;
- Experience in disaster planning, coordination and operational response environments;
- Sound leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence across agencies and the community;
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to perform under pressure in time-critical situations; and
- Professional judgement, resilience and a strong commitment to ethical practice and community outcomes
To succeed in this role, you will also have:
- An Advanced Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management) and/or substantial relevant experience in a similar role;
- A demonstrated understanding of Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements and legislation;
- A current C Class driver licence; and
- Availability to work outside normal hours during disasters, emergencies and community engagement activities
