About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Residential Care Officer to join our team
in Silverdale, NSW. This full-time, permanent position offers a competitive salary of $79,000
– $85,000 per annum plus Superannuation, based on skills and experience. The successful
candidate will provide care and supervision for children or people with disability in group
housing or institutional care, working within a structured residential environment to support
positive outcomes, safety, and wellbeing.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Assess clients' needs and plan, develop, and implement educational, training, and
support programs tailored to individual residents
Interview clients and assess the nature and extent of the difficulties they are
experiencing
Monitor and report on the progress of clients against their individual support and care
plans
Refer clients to agencies that can provide additional help and support where required
Assess community need and resources for health, welfare, housing, employment,
training, and other facilities and services relevant to residents
Liaise with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies, and private
businesses about community issues, and promote awareness of available community
resources and services
Support families and provide education and care for children and people with
disability within adult service units, group housing, and institutional care settings
Provide end-of-life care and support to individuals and their families, where required
Maintain accurate case notes, progress records, and incident reports in accordance
with legislative and organisational requirements
Contribute to the ongoing safety, welfare, and development of residents within a
supportive, structured care environment
The successful candidate will need flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, public
holidays, and occasional overnight shifts.
Mandatory Requirements
Diploma-level qualification (AQF Level 5) or higher, with a specialisation in
residential care services, health and wellbeing, disability services, or youth work (or a
comparable overseas qualification)
At least one year of full-time (or equivalent) industry experience in residential care,
disability support, or community services
Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain), where applicable
Current First Aid and CPR certification
NSW driver's licence, reliable vehicle, and comprehensive car insurance
Strong assessment, case management, and reporting skills, with a genuine
commitment to person-centred, trauma-informed care
