Loader / Multiskilled Operator
Calen Depot | Permanent Full-Time | 9 Day Fortnight
Looking for stable, local work where you can be home every night? Mackay Regional Council is seeking an experienced Loader / Multiskilled Operator to join our Civil Operations team based at the Calen Depot.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll primarily operate loaders and other civil plant, supporting the construction and maintenance of roads, drainage, and infrastructure across the region.

About this opportunity:
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering civil construction and maintenance works across the northern region of Mackay.
You will:
- Operate loaders and other civil plant in road and drainage construction and maintenance activities
- Support works including earthworks, concreting, pipelaying, bitumen and vegetation management
- Carry out labouring duties as required to support crew operations
- Work collaboratively within a team to deliver safe and high-quality outcomes
What we’re looking for:
We are seeking candidates with demonstrated experience operating civil construction plant, particularly loaders, within road or drainage environments.
Essential:
- Current General Construction Safety (“White”) Card
- QLD Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence or interstate equivalent (or willingness to obtain within six (6) months)
- Proven competency operating road construction plant and equipment, particularly loaders
Highly regarded (but not essential):
- Experience in civil construction (roads and drainage)
- Additional plant competencies (e.g. backhoe, skid steer, roller)
- Current Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) qualification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months)
- Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III in Civil Construction

Our salary and benefits:
- Base annual salary of $67,054.26 + applicable allowances
- Choice of 4 or 5 weeks’ annual leave with 17.5% leave loading
- 9 day fortnight roster
