About the role:
Provide high-quality specialist dermatology services to inpatients, outpatients and referred patients of St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney.
The Visiting Medical Officer – Dermatology provides specialist dermatology services to patients of St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney across inpatient, outpatient and consultation settings. The position is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and management of a broad range of dermatological disorders and contributes to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based and patient-centred care.
The role encompasses general dermatology together with subspecialty expertise in Contact Dermatitis, Procedural Dermatology and Immunodermatology, including the use of advanced systemic therapies, biologic agents and other targeted treatments for complex dermatological disease. The appointee will also provide specialist consultation and advisory opinions for patients managed within St Vincent’s affiliated and satellite hospitals, supporting the delivery of consistent, high-quality dermatology care across the Network.
The Department of Dermatology is a tertiary referral service providing comprehensive specialist dermatology care, consultation services, teaching and research. The Visiting Medical Officer will contribute to multidisciplinary patient management, clinical governance, quality improvement, education and research activities within the Department and the broader Hospital Network. The appointee will participate in departmental clinical and educational meetings, support the supervision and training of medical students, junior medical officers and dermatology trainees, and contribute to the ongoing development of specialist dermatology services in accordance with the mission, values and strategic objectives of St Vincent’s Health Australia.

Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.

Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD) and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

Demonstrated expertise in the provision of high-quality specialist dermatology services across inpatient, outpatient and consultation settings.

Demonstrated expertise and subspecialty interest in Contact Dermatitis, Procedural Dermatology and Immunodermatology, including the use of biologic agents, targeted therapies and other advanced systemic treatments.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and provide specialist consultation services to referring clinicians and affiliated hospitals.

Demonstrated commitment to teaching, supervision and mentoring of dermatology trainees, junior medical officers, medical students and other health professionals.

Demonstrated participation in clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety activities, peer review and accreditation processes.

Demonstrated involvement in clinical research, scholarly activity, continuing professional development and the translation of evidence-based medicine into clinical practice.
