Early Childhood Education and Care
Centre Director / Nominated Supervisor
Maari Ma has received funding to establish an Aboriginal Child and Family Centre (ACFC), which will operate as a culturally safe, family-centred hub—a trusted “one-stop shop” for Aboriginal families in Broken Hill. The Centre will integrate early childhood education, maternal and child health programs, and family support services to provide holistic care and support.
A key component of the ACFC is the establishment of a regulated Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) service, aimed at improving access to early years services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
The ACFC model seeks to address low participation rates in early childhood services by connecting families with a coordinated range of supports tailored to their needs. It is within this framework that Maari Ma’s Early Childhood Education and Care Service will operate.
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and ACECQA-approved Early Childhood Teacher to join our team as Director / Nominated Supervisor.
This position will initially support the establishment of Maari Ma's Education and Care service, assisting with the implementation and development of policies, procedures, and operational requirements in preparation for the centre's opening.
Once the Early Childhood Education and Care Centre is operational, the successful applicant will transition into the role of Centre Director and Nominated Supervisor, providing leadership across all aspects of the service. This includes ensuring compliance, managing, leading and mentoring educators, fostering positive relationships with children and families, and creating a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment.
The Centre Director / Nominated Supervisor is responsible for the effective management of the day-to-day operations of Maari Ma’s Early Childhood Education and Care, which includes:
- Recruitment, leadership and performance management of staff.
- Development and delivery of high quality and culturally centred educational programs and care.
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with families and community.
- Oversight of administrative and operational functions.
- Ensuring ECEC compliance with all relevant laws and educational frameworks governing early childhood education and care.
- Development, implementation and ongoing review of service operational policies and procedures.
The position is located within Maari Ma’s Child and Family Services portfolio and works collaboratively with the Early Years and Healthy Start services to ensure specific wrap-around services are delivered on-site to provide flexibility and increase access options for families. The position also works in collaboration with the Educational Leader with regards to the development of Maari Ma’s high quality, culturally centred early childhood education and care program.
