Looking for an Experienced Female Support Worker in Narre Warren:
Key Responsibilities
- Experienced in working with Autism level 3, nonverbal and ID.
- Implement and follow the participant’s Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) as directed by a registered Behaviour Support Practitioner.
- Provide active, attentive support throughout the full shift, you will be awake and engaged for the duration.
- Respond calmly and safely to behaviours of concern using a range of de-escalation strategies including verbal redirection, distraction, sensory regulation, and environment modification in line with the participant’s BSP.
- Monitor the participant’s wellbeing, comfort, and safety.
- Assist with personal care, mobility, toileting, and other daily living activities as required.
- Assist the participant with food or drink as needed during the shift, ensuring dietary requirements and any mealtime management protocols are followed
- Administer medication as prescribed and in accordance with the participant’s medication management plan.
- Proactively manage the environment to reduce triggers and minimise risk, including maintaining a calm, safe, and predictable setting.
- In the event of an emergency or critical incident, follow Compassion Care incident response protocol immediately.
- Complete detailed and accurate shift notes, progress notes, and incident reports at end of shift, ready for handover.
- Conduct a thorough verbal and written handover to incoming day staff, clearly communicating events, behaviours, and any concerns.
- Raise any changes in the participant’s behaviour, health, or wellbeing promptly with the Behaviour Support Practitioner and team leader.
- Adhere to all Compassion Care policies, NDIS Practice Standards, NDIS Code of Conduct, and relevant legislative requirements.
- Maintain professional boundaries and respect the participant’s privacy and dignity at all times within their family home.
Mandatory Compliance Requirements:
All of the following are non-negotiable requirements. You must hold these or be actively in the process of obtaining them prior to your first shift:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability), Community Services, or equivalent qualification
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (must be verified by Staycarewell prior to commencement)
- Current Working with Children Check (WWC)
- Current Police Check (issued within the last 3 years)
- Current First Aid certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent)
- Current CPR certificate (HLTAID009 or equivalent)
- Completed NDIS Worker Orientation Module — “Quality, Safety and You” (free online module, must be completed prior to first shift)
- Completed Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals training (or willingness to complete prior to commencement)
Additional Requirements:
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex or intensive behaviour support needs.
- Solid understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles and Behaviour Support Plans.
- Flexible to work afternoons, mornings or night shift
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including accurate shift documentation
- Reliable transport and valid driver’s Licence
- Capacity to work calmly under pressure and respond safely to escalating behaviours
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling, personal care assistance, and respond to physical incidents throughout an active shift
Highly Desirable:
- Training in restrictive practices or de-escalation frameworks
- Experience supporting participants with complex Autism level 3, trauma, ABI, psychosocial disability. Non verbal
- Medication administration competency
- Experience in in-home or family setting support environments
