The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to help lead our Australian Shared Services Centre (SSC) Tax Accounting function. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring taxation compliance, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the business.
Reporting to the Taxation Counsel, you will play a critical role in managing both direct and indirect tax obligations while driving process improvements and supporting strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all direct and indirect taxation reporting and compliance activities
- Prepare and manage Income Tax Returns, including consolidation and supporting schedules
- Oversee FBT, GST/BAS, IAS, and Fuel Tax Credit reporting and lodgements
- Coordinate tax effect accounting and quarterly group reporting requirements
- Maintain and improve internal control systems aligned to compliance and audit standards
- Provide technical tax guidance and training across the business
- Supervise and review work performed within the Tax Accounting team
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and overall service delivery
- Analyse legislative changes and ensure ongoing compliance with Australian tax law
- Support audits, reviews, and ad hoc tax projects
About You
Experience & Qualifications
- 3–5+ years’ recent experience in taxation accounting
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting or related discipline
- CA or CPA qualification (essential)
- Experience with SAP or corporate tax systems (e.g., OneSource) highly regarded
Skills & Attributes
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation (Income Tax, GST, FBT)
- Advanced MS Excel and high-level analytical capability
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to lead, coach, and influence others
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong commercial acumen
