A Plant Mechanic (also known as a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic) is responsible for the mechanical safety, servicing, and structural integrity of all heavy machinery, earthmoving equipment, and specialized rail plant used across construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete scheduled servicing, oil changes, and component replacements on excavators, loaders, grinders, and generators.
Use advanced original equipment manufacturer (OEM) diagnostic tools to isolate complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
Overhaul and rebuild diesel engines, transmissions, final drives, and hydraulic cylinders.
Utilize welding equipment to repair structural cracks, buckets, and fabricate custom components on-site.
Maintain detailed logbooks, digital service sheets, and track workshop asset reconciliations.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Certificate III in Engineering-Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic (or Heavy Duty Diesel equivalent).
Proven track record diagnosing large earthmoving equipment or heavy rail plant.
Strict adherence to Work Health and Safety (WHS) site rules and high risk environment procedures.
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical evaluation, drug/alcohol screen, and national police check.
Pay: $8,750.00 – $11,083.00 per month
