AKD is seeking an experienced and driven individual to join our team in the position of Colac Production Manager. This position will lead the Colac operational team with responsibility for the log yard, green processing, kilns and dry processing functions. Focused on creating a high performing team and delivering a zero-harm continuous improvement culture, the position would suit a motivated individual that has experience in managing people and driving performance outcomes.
We believe the position will best suit someone with either a Tertiary Qualification in Engineering, Management (or similar) or someone with strong experience in production or people management. Exposure to the timber or manufacturing industries will be valuable but not necessary. This position will be responsible for managing a team of over 150 people, with production volumes exceeding 570,000m3 of product per year.
Reporting and working closely with the Site Manager; the position will be part of AKD’s site leadership team and contribute to the overall AKD strategy. The successful candidate must be willing to challenge and enhance existing processes and systems and be a team orientated person with strong communication and influencing skills who is self-motivated, and solutions driven.
Key duties & responsibilities:
- Deliver the Colac Production Plan
- Create a culture of engagement through communication, performance and connection
- Drive and support initiatives to create a highly engaged, high performing culture
- Effective planning for the safe and high-quality utilisation and productivity of all employees and machine centres
- Monitoring and assessing operational activity; identifying opportunities for increased volume, recovery, value and continuous improvement
- Ensures the departmental structure and roles are adequate to meet operational needs and that they aligned with the strategic direction of the business
- Creates a culture of accountability through performance metrics and KPIs
