Primary objective
Lead and coordinate a small finance team with the specific aim of providing efficient and effective accounts receivable
services to client agencies in relation to issuing of invoices, processing receipts and managing government debtor accounts.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead and coordinate an Accounts Receivable team ensuring that invoices are issued and receipts processed accurately
and in a timely manner, and Government debtor accounts are professionally managed.
2. Manage a portfolio of government agencies and their debtors ensuring that debtor balances are maintained at appropriate
levels and the timeliness of receipts to the NTG are maximised.
3. Ensure that complex and contentious issues with customer debtor accounts are resolved promptly.
4. Facilitate the ongoing development of the team's knowledge and technical expertise.
5. Contribute to and actively seek opportunities for streamlined work practices.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and contribute to continuous improvement in a service delivery
environment.
2. Ability to lead and coordinate a finance service team to deliver accurate, timely and client-focused financial services in a
large and diverse organisation.
3. Demonstrated reconciliation and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse and resolve complex accounting
issues while applying relevant legislation, policy and standards.
4. Proven ability to deliver high-level verbal and written communication that is clear to the recipient, provide sound advice
and prepare practical procedures or guidance materials for staff and stakeholders.
5. Proven ability to use Microsoft Excel or similar systems to analyse data and support evidence-based recommendations
and decisions.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of financial legislation, GST, internal controls, governance and accountability requirements,
and the ability to apply them consistently in service delivery.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates Department of Corporate and Digital Development (DCDD)
values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice, accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.
