As Group Lead – Estimation, you'll lead a high-performing team of estimation professionals, playing a key role in developing critical transmission infrastructure projects that help power Victoria's future.
You'll guide your team in the development of project scopes, cost estimates, risk assessments and business cases for customer and company-initiated projects across AusNet's transmission network. Working closely with Project Development, Delivery, Asset Management, Connection Managers and external stakeholders, you'll help ensure projects are established with the clarity, rigour and cost certainty required for successful delivery.
Reporting to the Manager, Project Development, this role sits within the Transmission Project Development team and is based at Southbank, placing you at the forefront of shaping the infrastructure investments that will support Victoria's energy transition.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
Lead the development of projects prior to budget approval.
Provide project development leadership on customer- and company-initiated projects across AusNet’s electricity transmission networks.
Contribute to the development of scopes and estimates for transmission network projects, ensuring cost-effective and constructible business cases can be delivered, including: Developing and reviewing project risk registers, costs and assumptions
Developing and reviewing project estimates
identifying and reviewing commercial and delivery risks
Be responsible for developing project estimates during the development phase.
Manage innovation initiatives across varied project types at times in collaboration with other stakeholders both in Projects and wider AusNet Services stakeholders.
Identify opportunities to develop new and update existing estimating processes.
You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Civil, Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline
Alternatively, significant relevant industry experience in project estimating, transmission infrastructure, or project delivery
Extensive experience working in substation or lines engineering, project delivery and/or design role
Strong understanding of regulatory environment that AusNet operates within
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify, assess, and manage project risks, opportunities, assumptions, and cost drivers
Strong capability in the development of project concepts, business cases, cost estimates, delivery strategies, and/or engineering designs.
Proven ability to build and grow relationships and partnerships across divisions within Ausnet as well as with external suppliers, customers and regulatory bodies
