We are a well-established structural steel fabrication and manufacturing company providing a comprehensive range of services including structural steel fabrication, protective coatings, construction 3D modelling, rebar cage fabrication, laser cutting, tube laser cutting, metal folding, decorative screens, and custom steel solutions for commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure projects.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Structural Steel Detailer to join our team.
The Role
As a Structural Steel Detailer, you will play a key role in transforming engineering and architectural designs into accurate fabrication and erection documentation. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, estimators, workshop personnel and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings and erection drawings for structural steel projects.
- Develop and maintain 3D models using industry-standard detailing software. Interpret structural engineering drawings, specifications and architectural plans.
- Produce material take-offs and bills of materials (BOMs) for fabrication and procurement.
- Generate CNC and manufacturing data to support workshop production processes.
- Coordinate detailing requirements with engineers, architects, builders and project managers.
- Identify and resolve design clashes and constructability issues.
- Ensure detailing complies with Australian Standards, project specifications and fabrication requirements.
- Liaise with workshop personnel to support fabrication and installation activities.
Skills and Experience
- Relevant qualification in Engineering Drafting, Civil Engineering Drafting, Structural Drafting, Engineering Design or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in structural steel detailing.
- Proficiency in Tekla Structures, Advance Steel, AutoCAD or similar detailing software.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes
Desirable
- Experience with laser cutting, tube laser cutting, metal folding or CNC manufacturing environments.
- Experience detailing architectural steelwork, decorative screens or custom metal products.
- Knowledge of protective coating specifications and steel surface treatment requirements.
- Experience in reinforcement steel or rebar cage detailing.
