As a Lead Rigger/Scaffolder at Wilmar Sugar & Renewables, you’ll take the lead in coordinating a small team to safely deliver rigging and scaffolding activities across site operations. This hands-on leadership role combines technical expertise with mentoring and team support, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
This position is based at Pioneer Mill in North Queensland's Burdekin region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and a vibrant community. The Burdekin region offers a fantastic lifestyle with a warm climate, beautiful beaches and a range of recreational activities, making it a great place to live and work.
This position follows a year-round day work roster pattern and may require some weekend work and overtime.
Your Role in Action
- Lead the Team – Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring, and guidance to the rigging and scaffolding crew to ensure safe and efficient task completion.
- Deliver Rigging & Scaffolding Services – Carry out rigging and scaffolding duties across maintenance and operational activities.
- Manage Scaffold Compliance – Oversee scaffold registers and maintain traceability of equipment, inspections, and training records.
- Coordinate Equipment Maintenance – Lead the process for identifying, tagging, and managing out-of-service equipment for repair or replacement.
- Ensure Equipment Safety – Inspect, maintain, and test rigging equipment, ensuring faults are reported and addressed promptly.
- Support Site Operations – Assist with plant maintenance activities and provide support to tradespeople and production teams as required.
Your Winning Combination
Our ideal candidate will hold current High Risk Work Licences in Scaffolding, Rigging, and Dogging, along with demonstrated experience leading teams in an industrial or maintenance environment. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach to safety, and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks effectively are essential for success in this role.
Additional licences such as Forklift, Mobile Crane, Skid Steer, Gantry Crane, or an HR Licence will be highly regarded.
