The General Manager Sustainability & Community will shape Alinta Energy’s sustainability strategy, providing enterprise leadership and expert guidance across climate reporting and sustainability frameworks, policies and initiatives within the Corporate Services pillar. This influential role plays a key part in strategic decision making while delivering meaningful outcomes for customers, communities and stakeholders.
Leading Alinta Energy’s Community function, you will oversee programs that support customers experiencing vulnerability and hardship, champion employee volunteering initiatives, and identify sponsorship and partnership opportunities that reflect our values and strengthen our social impact.
A key focus of the role is advancing sustainability and community performance across the organisation through continuous improvement, while delivering trusted insights, governance, assurance and reporting to management, owners and the Board. What you’ll do
- Lead Alinta Energy’s ESG strategy, including its sustainability programs and regulatory engagement to deliver on our compliance, reporting and strategic commitments.
- Manage sustainability governance, climate-related disclosures, Modern Slavery obligations and environmental reporting requirements.
- Monitor emerging legislation, influencing policy development and implementing changes to maintain compliance and best practice.
- Drive community investment initiatives, including the Community Development Fund and Better Energy Efficiency Program, to create positive social and environmental outcomes.
- Build strong partnerships with community organisations, government stakeholders and internal teams to enhance engagement, volunteering and program impact.
- Advance First Nations engagement, Reconciliation Action Plan commitments and inclusion initiatives to strengthen relationships and deliver meaningful progress.
Your experience
- Proven success in developing and delivering ESG, sustainability and environmental strategies in complex organisations including the management of technical emissions and sustainability data across a broad organisational portfolio.
- Tertiary qualifications in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, climate reporting, environmental compliance and relevant Australian legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, engage and communicate with stakeholders at all levels, including Boards and Executive teams.
- Experienced people leader with a track record of delivering outcomes, navigating complexity and driving continuous improvement.
