This is a hands-on finance role with real ownership. You'll run the day-to-day accounting across our Australian and UK entity - AP, payroll, reconciliations, and compliance - while taking an active role in month-end close and reporting. It's a broad scope that suits someone who enjoys being close to the numbers and wants to keep building their technical skills in a fast-moving environment.
We're a lean team, which means you'll have direct access to the Financial Controller and real influence over how the finance function operates. This role is perfect for an ambitious accountant who wants to develop in the role and learn from an experienced team in a fast-paced technology business. We are looking for someone who is growing in their career, not the finished article, so if you're working towards your CA or CPA and want a role where your studies and your day job reinforce each other, this is it.
What you'll do:
Accounts payable & expenses
Processing, coding and approving supplier invoices; managing creditor payments and weekly payment runs
Processing employee expense reimbursements via Airwallex and completing monthly reconciliations
AP system (Traild) ownership - managing approval workflow, following up with staff on approvals, fixing coding discrepancies, and missing documentation
Ensuring all invoices are paid within terms - no accounts or subscriptions lapsing
Reconciliations & compliance
Weekly bank reconciliations across all accounts, investigating any discrepancies
Quarterly BAS preparation and submission to the ATO
General ledger coding including GST/VAT allocation
Payroll
Monthly AUD payroll processing, STP-compliant
Supporting employee payroll queries and maintaining accurate records
Month-end
Assisting with month-end close - accruals, prepayments, and general ledger maintenance
Maintaining the fixed asset register
Contributing to the close pack and management reporting
Who you are:
You're an ambitious, self-directed accountant who takes pride in accuracy and owns your work. You're comfortable managing a broad scope independently, you notice when something doesn't add up, and you follow it through without needing being asked.
You'll need:
2–4 years' experience in an accounting or finance role - AP, bookkeeping, or assistant accountant level
CA or CPA or working towards becoming qualified
Familiarity with Xero or similar cloud accounting software
A basic understanding of GST, BAS, and Australian payroll
Strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing deadlines
Strong bias towards teamwork and working as part of a collective
Nice to have:
Any exposure to month-end tasks - reconciliations, accruals, FAR, or prepayments
Experience with expense platforms such as Airwallex, Dext, Traild or ApprovalMax
Experience in a fast-growth or multi-entity international environment
Exposure to UK bookkeeping, VAT returns and HMRC filings
What we offer:
Competitive salary & meaningful ESOP
Fully flexible working arrangements with a well-stocked office in Redfern
Regular office events
