The opportunity
We are currently recruitng for 2 parental leave cover positions. As a Maternal and Child Health Nurse, you'll play a vital role in supporting children and families from birth through to school age. Working within Hobsons Bay City Council's Community Child Health Service, you will provide high-quality health promotion, early intervention, parenting support, and child development services, helping families achieve the best possible health and wellbeing outcomes.
What you’ll do
- Deliver comprehensive maternal and child health services for children and families from birth to school age.
- Contact families and arrange initial home visits and ongoing appointments
- Provide health promotion, early identification, intervention, parenting guidance and support.
- Identify vulnerable families and facilitate referrals to appropriate support services.
- Maintain accurate records, support service delivery across centres, and participate in professional development programs
What you need to succeed
- Recognised qualifications in both Division 1 Nursing and Midwifery.
- Qualification in Child and Family Health Nursing and eligibility to practise as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse.
- Current AHPRA registration.
- Experience delivering primary health services to children and families, ideally within local government Maternal and Child Health services.
- Strong communication skills, knowledge of child development, and ability to work effectively with diverse families and stakeholders.

Pre-Employment Requirements
Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check, a Pre-Employment Medical Check, Qualification Check and a Working With Children Check (WWCC). Candidates must also hold a valid Victorian Driver's License.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa with full unrestricted working rights. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
