About the Role
We are seeking a driven and commercially astute Business Development Manager to join our South Australian team. This role offers a balance between new business development and account management, making it ideal for someone who thrives on both winning new opportunities and growing existing relationships.
You will be responsible for driving specification and tender opportunities, while managing and expanding a portfolio of key accounts across architects, builders, contractors, and reseller partners. Working closely with internal sales, technical, and product teams, you will deliver tailored, competitive solutions that meet customer needs and drive revenue growth.
This is a dynamic, relationship-driven role that requires a proactive mindset, strong technical capability, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across South Australia
- Drive project specifications across key product groups to generate future sales
- Develop and execute strategic growth plans to increase revenue and market share
- Build relationships with architects, consultants, contractors, and new stakeholders
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
- Actively manage and convert the tender pipeline (end-to-end process)
Account Management
- Manage and grow existing key accounts within reseller and contractor networks
- Maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers and strategic partners
- Provide exceptional customer service, technical support, and solutions-based advice
- Implement structured account plans and call cycles to maximise engagement
- Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts
- Monitor customer activity and feedback through CRM and take proactive action
Key Responsibilities also includes, but not limited to:
- Prepare and submit accurate, compliant, and competitive tenders and proposals
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and Marketing teams
- Track and manage tender deadlines, opportunities, and outcomes
- Represent the business at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings
- Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally
- Uphold company values and contribute positively to team culture
About You
- Proven experience in a Business Development, Account Management, or similar sales role
- Background within the building products or construction industry (highly desirable)
- Strong understanding of the specification-to-order and tender process
- Demonstrated ability to win new business while managing and growing key accounts
- Commercially minded with strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and present tailored solutions
- Proficiency in SAP, CRM systems and Microsoft Office
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working autonomously
- Flexibility to attend trade shows and customer events (occasional after-hours)
