exploration and development of onshore shale gas assets in the Northern Territory’s Beetaloo Sub-basin and McArthur Basin.
With key developments such as the Carpentaria Pilot Project, the company is positioning itself as a major player in Australia’s energy future. As operations expand, we are building a high-performing finance team to support increasingly complex project and commercial activities.
Key Accountabilities
Project Accounting & Financial Management
- Own and maintain project cost ledgers across multiple active projects
- Lead month-end close activities relating to project accounting
- Prepare and deliver monthly project financial reports, including budget vs actual analysis
- Develop, monitor and challenge cost-to-complete forecasts
- Track commitments and ensure accurate cost allocation across projects
Accounts Payable Oversight
- Review and oversee the processing of invoices from consultants and suppliers
- Provide guidance and supervision to the Accounts Payable Officer (once appointed)
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and appropriate coding of project-related expenditure
Reporting & Analysis
- Support and contribute to finance reporting packs for senior stakeholders
- Provide clear insights into project performance, risks, and cost drivers
- Partner with the Finance Manager and operational teams to support decision-making
- Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities across projects
Process Improvement & Systems
- Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable finance processes and controls
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives as project complexity and volume increase
- Support system enhancements and improved reporting capability
Ad Hoc & Strategic Support
- Provide support to the CFO and VP Finance on ad hoc analysis and projects
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function
- Assist with half-year and year-end audits
Role Requirements
Skills & Experience - essential:
- Strong technical accounting capability with a solid understanding of capitalisation principles and project cost management
- Proven experience in project accounting, including cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in ERP systems
- Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Skills & Experience – highly regarded:
- CA/CPA qualified (or near completion)
- Experience in oil & gas, energy, mining, construction or other capital-intensive industries
- Exposure to an ASX-listed environment
- Experience working within a growing or evolving finance function

Pay: $108,206.74 – $156,363.63 per year
