Serve with purpose. Grow through community.
Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) cares for companion animals and helps them find safe, permanent homes. As an Animal Attendant, you are part of the team that keeps the centre running day to day while giving animals the care, attention and support they need.
You feed animals, clean and maintain kennels and cattery areas, monitor animal health and behaviour, and follow quarantine and disinfection procedures. You help move animals through the centre, assist with health checks and treatments, maintain accurate records, and report welfare concerns. You also work with customers looking for lost pets or identifying animals in care.
Working closely with staff, veterinarians, volunteers and rescue partners, you help create positive outcomes for animals and the community. Your work supports responsible pet ownership, promotes animal welfare and helps ensure every animal is treated humanely while in our care. You contribute to a supportive team environment and take part in ongoing learning and development.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

- an entry level salary commencing at $1,248.18 per week
- penalty rates apply for weekend shifts
- a 38-hour working week
- a Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight

- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
