In this role, you'll:
Working as part of the Finance, Commerical and Technology Division, in the Finance Accounting and Control Business unit.
You’ll step into a senior advisory role where you guide the organisation through complex tax matters—interpreting legislation, managing risk, and navigating complex transactions to make sound, practical decisions.
It’s about more than compliance; you’ll partner with leaders across the business, influence strategy, and translate technical tax concepts into clear advice that supports major projects and outcomes.
You’ll also lead a direct team (2) and indirectly a broader complience team to drive improvements across systems and processes, all while balancing competing priorities in a large, multi-agency environment with constant change.
You’ll enjoy stepping into a broader advisory role where your insights shape strategy, guide decision-making, and add value at a whole-of-organisation level.

This is a permanent position based at Macquarie Park. Part time 4 days a week will be considered. The current team day is Tuesday with 50% monthly office attendance. is embedded within the team’s established ways of working and supports collaborative delivery. Flexible hybrid work options are available to promote balance and productivity.
About you
You will possess the following demonstrated experience:
- You’ll offer proven leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across a complex organisation.
- You may come from a Big 4 or ATO background, ready to apply your expertise to high-value, impactful work in government.
- You’ll be comfortable tackling technically challenging issues and providing clear, practical advice in the grey areas.
- You’ll have strong experience applying tax legislation in complex, real-world scenarios and confidently advising through ambiguity.
- You’ll bring relevant qualifications in accounting, business or law, ideally backed by CA/CPA or postgraduate tax expertise.
