In this role, you'll:
Work as part of a team delivering complex engineering activities, this role will see you lead and manage technical tasks, integrate engineering requirements, manage risk, contribute to design and development, inspect and test installed systems, and support project delivery across scope, quality, time and cost outcomes. You will drive consistent engineering standards and efficient technical outcomes in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, diverse stakeholders and evolving project challenges. Rail Systems is delivering the Digital Systems Program (DSP), replacing current signalling and train control technology on the Sydney Trains network with modern internationally tested intelligent systems. These technology systems allow track, train and signalling systems to communicate continuously and will help improve safety and reliability, enabling future capacity and journey time improvements for train passengers.In this role you will take carriage of design and test report reviews, resolve technical issues, and provide project management for specialist technical engineering services. You will contribute to the delivery of DSP, its component subsystems, and System integration. The primary purpose of the role is to develop solutions for designated business areas within the context of the overall Architecture frameworks. The role acts as an important link between the business units, OT and IT in ensuring that solutions are designed to meet business/user requirements while also aligning to the overall OT/IT architecture and security frameworks.
The role reports into DSP Lead Architect and partners with Senior Project Managers to ensure effective delivery of technology solutions.
In this role you will undertake review of Supplier’s document including design and test report, resolve technical issues, and provide specialist technical OT architecture services. You will contribute to the delivery of projects in line with defined scope, quality, time and cost criteria, acting as an embedded support function within the project team to collaborate and ensure successful project outcomes.
In this role you will:
- Provide technical advice on OT architecture governance and project issues.
- Advice on resolution to technical problems.
- Identify design risks and opportunities.

About you
You will have demonstrated experience working across senior levels within a large and complex organisation, providing technical leadership to influence project outcomes, and bring:
- Strong understanding of project management principles, including risk management, scheduling and cost control, applied to complex infrastructure or engineering projects.
- Experience coordinating with stakeholders, contractors and regulatory authorities to achieve project objectives and ensure alignment across multiple disciplines.
- Provide expert strategic and technical advice to senior stakeholders to inform decision making.
- You are consultative, and outcomes focused, and stay across emerging trends, innovative practices and sector developments.
- Ensure all architecture decisions satisfy the Rail Safety National Law (or local equivalent), IEC 62443 (Cybersecurity for IACS), and EN 50128/EN 50129 (Software & Safety in Railway Signalling)
