The role:
Love being out on site rather than behind a desk? Put your technical skills into practice as a Concrete Field Testing Technician! This is a field-based role where you’ll travel across Perth to construction sites, conduct concrete testing and collect samples for laboratory testing at our dedicated Materials Testing Centre in Hazelmere. You’ll work closely with customers, concreters and Agitator Drivers, helping ensure every pour meets the required standards.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Travelling to construction and customer sites across Perth
-
Conducting concrete field testing, including slump, air content and flow testing as required

Casting concrete test cylinders/specimens for compressive strength testing
-
Correctly compacting, finishing, identifying and labelling test specimens
-
Collecting previously cast specimens from sites and transport them safely back to the Materials Testing Centre

Maintaining accurate sample identification and traceability throughout the collection process
-
Recording field test and sample information in the relevant systems

Working closely with Agitator Drivers, customers, concreters and site personnel to coordinate testing requirements

Managing multiple testing jobs throughout the day and prioritising your workload according to the schedule

Keeping customers and the team updated if jobs are delayed, sites are unavailable or priorities change

Ensuring testing equipment is clean, maintained and ready for use

Following all required safety, quality and testing procedures
This is a permanent, full-time role working Monday to Friday, with regular early starts between 3:00am and 6:00am, depending on scheduled jobs - perfect for someone who enjoys getting up early and seeing the sunrise. You’ll also be required to work regular Saturdays, typically for a half day.
What you’ll bring:
We’re looking for someone who combines technical attention to detail with strong organisation and communication skills. You’ll ideally have:

Previous experience in concrete, construction materials, asphalt or aggregate testing

An understanding of fresh concrete testing and sampling procedures

Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to following testing procedures
-
Excellent time management and organisational skills
-
The ability to manage multiple jobs and changing priorities throughout the day
-
Confident communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers and site personnel
-
The ability to work independently while remaining connected with the wider team
-
A practical, positive attitude and willingness to contribute to the team
-
Confidence working outdoors and on active construction sites
-
The ability to safely handle concrete test specimens and equipment weighing approximately 10–15kg
-
A current driver’s licence and White Card
-
An understanding of NATA-accredited testing environments and Australian Standards would be advantageous
-
A relevant engineering, materials or construction qualification would be well regarded.
