About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Health Services Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy medical practice.
Reporting to the Practice Directors, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the clinic, supporting continuous service improvement, maintaining accreditation standards and leading our administrative team to deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the medical practice.
- Lead, supervise and support administrative and reception staff.
- Coordinate workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding and staff performance.
- Oversee Medicare billing, practice administration and operational workflows.
- Develop, implement and review practice policies and procedures.
- Coordinate accreditation requirements, including AGPAL and quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor financial and operational performance, including reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, privacy requirements and workplace health and safety obligations.
- Liaise with doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and external stakeholders to support efficient service delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient experience, operational efficiency and business performance.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in healthcare practice management or health service management.
- Strong leadership, organisational and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing administrative systems, Medicare billing and practice operations.
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes and healthcare accreditation standards.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Health Service Management, Health Administration, Business Management or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within a general practice, primary healthcare or multidisciplinary medical clinic.
- Experience with medical practice management software such as Best Practice or Medical Director.
Employment Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Hold unrestricted Australian working rights.
- Complete a National Police Check prior to commencement.
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a Working with Children Check if required.
- Provide professional referees.
