The Director of Operations at Dragonfly Shipping AUS will be a crucial driver of our growth strategy, taking the lead in optimising the operations of our last-mile delivery services. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with the ability to implement efficient, innovative solutions and elevate service quality to meet increasing delivery volumes. The ideal candidate has a robust background in logistics, operations management, and strategic planning, with a strong passion for process optimisation and team leadership. This role reports directly to the Managing Director for Dragonfly Australia.
Own and lead the national operations function, setting the operational strategy, priorities, standards, and performance expectations required to support Dragonfly’s growth and service commitments.
Drive consistent site performance across the network, ensuring delivery operations are efficient, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned to key service, productivity, quality, and customer outcomes.
Lead workforce and capacity planning across all locations, including labour forecasting, rostering, contractor capacity, agency labour requirements, and resourcing for daily operations, growth periods, peak events, and High Volume Events (HVEs).
Ensure operational readiness for peak periods and major volume events, including Prime, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas, and other business-critical demand surges through effective planning, risk management, and contingency execution.
Maintain strong ownership of safety, regulatory, company policy, and Independent Delivery Contractor (IDC) compliance across all sites, ensuring risks, incidents, contractor standards, and corrective actions are actively managed.
Ensure financial performance and target gross margin achievement for each delivery station by managing productivity, staffing, controllable spend, contractor compensation, etc.
Build and lead a high-performing operations leadership team, creating a culture of accountability, safety, continuous improvement, clear communication, and disciplined execution.
Partner with senior leadership, commercial, technology, finance, HR, and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues, improve service delivery, support new site or customer launches, and strengthen operational capability.
Work with Human Resources to support industrial relations matters, including consultation, workforce change, employee and contractor engagement, union-related matters, and consistent application of operational policies and procedures.
