About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 to join the Greater Newcastle Acute Care Team, based at the James Fletcher Hospital campus within the Greater Newcastle Community Mental Health Service. The Acute Care Team is a dynamic multidisciplinary service providing recovery-focused assessment, treatment and support to consumers experiencing acute mental health needs across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens Working a 7-day rotating roster between 8:00am and 10:00pm, you'll play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, person-centred mental health care while supporting clinical decision-making and contributing to positive outcomes for consumers. As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you'll have the opportunity to influence clinical practice, mentor colleagues and further develop your specialist mental health nursing expertise.

What You Will Be Doing
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 with the Greater Newcastle Acute Care Team, you will provide advanced clinical nursing care to consumers experiencing acute mental health needs while supporting the coordination and leadership of a dynamic multidisciplinary team.
In this role, you will:

Deliver comprehensive mental health assessments, interventions and recovery-focused care to consumers in the community.

Coordinate the delivery of safe, evidence-based and person-centred care within a fast-paced acute care environment.

Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Coordinate daily clinical activities, prioritise workload and respond effectively to changing consumer needs.

Collaborate with psychiatrists, medical officers, allied health professionals and community partners to develop and implement individualised care plans.

Support consumers and their families through education, advocacy and coordinated care.

Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, service development and evidence-based practice.

Mentor and support the professional development of nursing staff while promoting a positive team culture.

Essential requirements:

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
