The Role
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design and delivery of our high-voltage substation projects. This role will drive design excellence across both internal teams and external design partners ensuring seamless integration, compliance and quality outcomes across all project phases.
You will lead the design of substations from concept through to execution, providing technical leadership to internal engineers and outsourced design consultants, and acting as the key technical interface between engineering, construction, procurement and clients. You will guide projects through the full development lifecycle, from concept and EPC pricing through to negotiation and contract execution, and support proposal development, tenders and technical presentations as we continue to grow our client base.
This is an exciting time to join EPEC. We are in a strong growth phase and will shortly be relocating to new offices spanning two floors in South Brisbane, giving you the chance to help shape a growing design function within a business built for scale.
About You
You will bring proven experience leading substation design and delivering complex infrastructure projects end to end, along with the leadership and commercial acumen to manage both internal teams and external consultants. To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
- Proven experience as a Design Manager in high-voltage substation projects
- Strong knowledge of substation design and HV systems, including AS, IEC and IEEE standards
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex infrastructure projects end to end
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost estimation and risk management
- The ability and willingness to travel interstate to support project execution
