Financial Accounting & Reporting (Accountant) | Full time | $80,000 - $82,000 per year + superannuation
About the role
Foodies Organic Supplies is seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team in a full-time position. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial accounting and reporting functions and supporting management with accurate financial information for business planning, compliance and decision-making.
What you’ll be doing
1. Prepare, analyse and maintain accurate financial statements, including profit and loss reports, balance sheets and cash flow reports.
2. Manage day-to-day accounting records, reconciliations, journals and month-end/year-end close processes.
3. Examine operating costs, sales, income and expenditure to support budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
4. Assist in formulating and improving budgetary, accounting and internal control policies and procedures.
5. Prepare and review BAS/IAS, payroll, superannuation, tax-related records and other statutory compliance requirements in coordination with external accountants where required.
6. Provide financial analysis, taxation guidance and reporting insights to management to support informed business decisions.
7. Maintain and improve accounting systems, including Xero and spreadsheet-based reporting processes.
8. Liaise with directors, financial institutions, external accountants, suppliers and advisers as required.
9. Support stock, inventory, cost-of-goods and cash-flow analysis for the retail and online operations of the business.
10 Assist with payroll processing, including PAYG withholding, superannuation, STP reporting and payroll reconciliations.
What we're looking for
1. Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a closely related field.
2. Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar financial accounting role, preferably within retail, FMCG, grocery, food or a similar business environment.
3. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and statutory compliance requirements.
4. Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet applications; experience with Xero accounting software is essential.
5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with directors, management, staff and external stakeholders.
7. Proactive, organised and able to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality, accuracy and professionalism in all financial matters.
