About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and personable Disability Support Worker to support a 25-year-old man in Keilor Downs.
The ideal candidate will be confident, patient, and able to build genuine rapport while supporting the participant to develop independence, confidence, social skills, and community participation.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or relevant experience
- Experience supporting adults with autism and/or mental health needs
- Strong English communication skills and the ability to communicate naturally and comfortably
- A patient and respectful approach, allowing appropriate processing time
- A commitment to promoting choice, independence, and skill development
- Confidence supporting activities such as gym, AFL, outings, recreation, and community participation
- An interest or experience in fitness, weights, healthy eating, and meal preparation
- Digital or creative skills such as Canva, graphic design, Instagram, Photoshop, T-shirt printing, computers, or similar are highly desirable
- The ability to provide emotional support while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Experience supporting volunteering, work readiness, skill development, or employment pathways is advantageous
Personality & Participant Fit
We are looking for someone who can relate well to a 25-year-old man and develop a positive working relationship through shared interests.
The successful candidate will be someone who encourages participation rather than taking over, helping the participant build confidence and develop skills independently.
