Details: Transport Canberra is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to lead Fleet Services, a critical area responsible for maintaining and supporting Canberra's public transport bus fleet. Leading a large and diverse workforce across multiple operational sites, you will ensure the safe, efficient and reliable delivery of fleet maintenance, repair and support services.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for fleet operations, asset management, procurement, budget oversight, workplace health and safety, business support services and future fleet planning. You will work closely with government, industry and key stakeholders to support public transport services, drive continuous improvement and help shape the future of public transport in the ACT, including the transition to new and sustainable vehicle technologies.
We are looking for a collaborative and inclusive leader with experience in fleet management, transport, logistics, heavy vehicle operations or a comparable operational environment. The successful applicant will have strong people leadership skills, the ability to influence strategic outcomes and a demonstrated commitment to building safe, high-performing teams.
Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Participation in an on-call roster is required, including response to operational incidents and emergencies.

A current C-class driver's licence is essential.

A pre-employment medical assessment and criminal history check are required.

Qualifications in heavy vehicle mechanical technology, diesel motor mechanics or electric vehicle mechanics are highly desirable.

Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months, with the possibility of permanency. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is based across various operational locations within Canberra.
