Benefits
The remuneration for this position is AU$75,000 – AU$85,000 per annum plus superannuation.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Assisting Civil Engineering Professionals with the planning, design and delivery of residential, civil and commercial engineering projects by providing technical support throughout project lifecycles.
- Conducting field inspections and site investigations to obtain engineering data, verify existing site conditions and identify issues relevant to the preparation and implementation of engineering designs.
- Performing tests and evaluations of construction materials, including soil, aggregates and concrete, and recording, interpreting and reporting test results to support engineering assessments and compliance requirements.
- Collecting, analysing and tabulating engineering, survey and construction data to assist in the preparation of technical reports, design calculations and project documentation.
- Preparing engineering sketches, technical drawings and computer-aided design (CAD) documentation based on engineering specifications, project requirements and applicable Australian Standards.
- Assisting in the preparation and revision of civil engineering plans, layouts, details and supporting documentation to facilitate construction activities and regulatory approvals.
- Monitoring construction activities and inspecting works to verify conformity with approved drawings, engineering specifications, contractual requirements and relevant statutory regulations.
- Assisting in the identification, investigation and resolution of technical issues arising during design development and construction by liaising with engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Preparing quantity estimates, material schedules and cost information to support project planning, procurement activities and budget estimations.
- Reviewing engineering documentation, specifications and technical submissions to verify completeness, accuracy and compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining accurate project records, inspection reports, testing results and technical documentation in accordance with organisational procedures and quality management requirements.
- Coordinating with surveyors, architects, contractors, local authorities and utility service providers to facilitate project delivery and ensure effective communication between stakeholders.
- Supporting the implementation of workplace health and safety, environmental and quality assurance procedures during site inspections and project execution.
- Assisting with the preparation of engineering reports, technical correspondence and client documentation by presenting engineering information in a clear, accurate and professional manner.
Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications
- AQF Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Design, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- A higher qualification, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, will be considered favourably but is not essential.
Experience
- At least 1 year experience in a civil engineering, structural engineering or engineering consultancy environment.
Skills
- Civil engineering and construction knowledge.
