Your New Role
As Manager, Asset Governance, you'll partner closely with investment teams, senior executives, company boards and governance stakeholders to strengthen governance practices across Aware's direct asset portfolio. You'll also help manage and evolve Aware's representative director ecosystem from talent identification and board appointments through to onboarding, development, remuneration, succession planning and engagement.
This is a highly visible role that combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution and offers exposure to senior leaders and board members across Australia and internationally.
What you'll do
You will:
- Support the governance framework for Aware's representative director ecosystem and director talent pool
- Coordinate board director recruitment, assessment, appointment and succession planning activities
- Manage director onboarding, engagement, remuneration reviews and development programmes
- Develop and maintain governance policies, processes, registers and reporting
- Prepare high-quality committee and board papers and present recommendations to governance forums
- Partner with investment teams to assess and enhance governance outcomes across direct asset investments
- Manage the delivery of director training and engagement activities including Aware’s director event programme
- Support governance health checks, benchmarking activities and governance improvement initiatives
- Provide governance advice to investment sector teams and portfolio company stakeholders
- Lead key governance and compliance activities, including director declarations of interests and Fit & Proper assessments
How do you exceed our expectations?
You'll bring a blend of governance expertise, stakeholder management capability and commercial acumen, together with a passion for helping organisations operate effectively and responsibly.
You'll (likely) have:
- 5–10 years' experience in governance, company secretariat, legal, investment governance, executive recruitment or a related field
- Experience supporting boards, directors or governance frameworks in complex organisations
- A strong understanding of board governance practices and director appointment processes
- Experience managing senior internal and external stakeholders with confidence and credibility
- Excellent communication, presentation and report-writing skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to navigate complexity, ambiguity and competing priorities
- An appreciation of the regulatory and legislative environment in which large institutional investors and superannuation funds operate
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in governance, law, business, finance or a related discipline
