Job Description: The role involves interpreting drawings and specifications to determine materials and installation procedures, cutting, and assembling timber components, erecting frameworks, and roofing structures, and fitting external cladding, doors, and windows. The carpenter may also perform repairs and construct concrete formwork as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review drawings and specifications to identify required materials, measurements, and installation methods.
- Build concrete formwork as needed for construction projects.
- Cut materials to size, assemble components, and secure parts using nails or shaped parts.
- Assemble timber structures and fittings, ready for installation.
- Install fascia panels, roof sheathing, and external wall cladding.
- Check accuracy and alignment of completed structures to ensure quality and compliance.
- Carry out repairs or replacements of existing timber structures and fittings.
Qualifications:
- Must be competent to use hand and power tools.
- At least two years of on-the-job training, or at least three years of relevant experience.
- White Card and valid driver’s license.
- Strong awareness of OH&S and safe work practices.
- Ability to work efficiently within a team environment.
