Obtain Certificate III Engineering - Mechanical Trade (TAFE)
Kick start your career with a four-year Mechanical Apprenticeship at Hunter Water Corporation commencing January 2027.

The Opportunity
The Apprentice Fitter will work with the Electrical and Mechanical group’s trades, as well as Engineering and Safety staff to gain experience and training in a wide range of functions involving Hunter Water’s assets.
What you'll do:
-
Mechanical maintenance of all of Hunter Water’s mechanical assets, (pumps, valves, vacuum sewer)

Use of hand tools and precision measuring equipment
-
Use of workshop machinery in a state-of-the-art facility at Tomago
What you'll need to be successful:
Essential Criteria:
-
Completed School Certificate (Year 10)
-
Class C Driver’s Licence or provisional equivalent
-
Construction Induction Card
-
Interest in and aptitude for mechanical tasks
-
Ability to work effectively within a small team or individually depending on the situation
-
Strong organisational skills
-
Proven communication, collaboration and relationship building skills
-
Intermediate computer skills
-
Demonstrate strong organisational skills
-
Strong work ethic and commitment to be productive and efficient at work
-
Willing and able to work in a variety of work environments including but not limited to working in confined spaces, at heights and in environments exposed to sewer.
The apprentice must be willing and able to complete the following formal education:
-
Certificate III Engineering - Mechanical Trade (TAFE)
- Class MR Driver’s Licence
-
All mandatory compliance training including but not limited to Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) (some compliance training requires an individual to be 18 years or older to complete)

Forklift licence
-
Crane operator licence
-
Dogging licence (rigging)
Desirable Criteria:

Completed Higher School Certificate (Year 12)
-
Relevant prior work experience and/or other work experience
-
Other work experience including other casual or part time work
