About Pikko
Pikko is Australia's first fresh cat food subscription brand. We make premium, human-grade meals for cats using Australian meats and organs — gently cooked, portioned, vacuum-sealed and frozen for freshness.
We're a small but fast-growing startup on a mission to change the way cats eat across Australia.
The Role
We're looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Hand / Food Production Assistant to join our production kitchen in Medina (Kwinana industrial area — best suited to applicants in Perth's southern suburbs).
This is a hands-on role supporting food preparation, cooking, packing, cleaning and general production. You'll be helping make the fresh meals that go out to cats across Australia.
The role is currently casual, around 3–4 shifts per week, 7:00am–3:00pm, with the opportunity to become part-time or full-time as Pikko grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and portioning raw and cooked meats, including organ meats such as liver and heart
- Assisting with cooking ground meats to the correct internal temperatures, following our food safety procedures (training provided)
- Operating kitchen equipment such as grinders, mixers and vacuum sealers
- Labelling, packing and organising food pouches for freezing
- Maintaining high hygiene, cleanliness and food safety standards
- Cleaning equipment, benches, floors and production areas
- Helping keep the kitchen organised, efficient and ready for production
- Assisting with general kitchen and food production duties as required
About You
You don't need to be a chef, but you do need to be reliable, practical and comfortable with hands-on food production work.
You should be:
- Comfortable working with raw meat, organ meats, fish and pork
- Comfortable working in cold environments, including freezer rooms
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift boxes
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions carefully
- Detail-oriented, working cleanly and safely
- Happy doing repetitive hands-on production and cleaning work
- Available 7:00am–3:00pm, 3–4 days per week
- Holding valid Australian work rights
Previous experience as a kitchen hand, food production worker, butcher's assistant, packer or process worker is highly regarded. A Food Safety certificate is desirable, or a willingness to obtain one (we'll support you with this).
Cat parents especially welcome.
What We Offer
- Genuine potential to move into part-time or full-time work as we grow
- Consistent shifts, 3–4 days per week, 7:00am–3:00pm
- Award pay rate plus superannuation
- On-site parking
- Full training on our equipment and production processes
- 20% off your own cat's Pikko subscription
- A friendly, supportive team environment
- The chance to join a fast-growing Australian startup at an early stage
