What does this role involve?
As our Head Steward, you will lead and inspire a team responsible for maintaining exceptional cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards across Wrest Point's busy kitchen and food service operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll spend time coaching, developing and supporting your team to perform at their best. Working closely with our Executive Chefs and culinary leaders, you'll be instrumental in creating a positive team culture, ensuring operational excellence and maintaining the high standards our guests expect.
Duties will include:
- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Stewards across a busy 7-day operation
- Creating a positive, engaged and high-performing team culture
- Coordinating daily stewarding operations across multiple food and beverage outlets
- Working closely with Executive Chefs and kitchen leaders to support operational requirements
- Training, onboarding and coaching team members to ensure consistent standards and performance
- Providing regular feedback, support and guidance to assist with employee development
- Ensuring all cleaning chemicals, equipment and products are used safely and in accordance with industry standards
- Maintaining exceptional cleanliness, sanitation and food safety standards throughout all kitchen areas
- Supporting workplace health and safety initiatives and ensuring compliance across the team
- Overseeing kitchen deliveries, stock rotation and waste management processes
- Ordering cleaning chemicals and stewarding consumables
- Assisting with recruitment, rostering and team management activities
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and processes within the department
What will you bring to the team?
- Proven experience leading and developing teams within hospitality, stewarding, kitchen operations or a similar environment
- A genuine passion for people leadership and helping others succeed
- The ability to coach, motivate and inspire a diverse team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships across departments
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Sound understanding of food safety, cleaning and sanitation standards
- Experience managing workloads and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work flexible hours across a 7-day roster, including day and night shifts
