Lead Aboriginal Affairs NSW’s research and evaluation agenda to inform policy, reform and delivery across NSW.

We are looking for a strategic and experienced research and evaluation leader who can work with influence, cultural understanding and sound judgement in a complex policy environment.
Temporary, Clerk Grade 11/12 role ($154,231 to $178,36- up to June 2028 based in Mascot NSW.
About the Role
As the Manager Research and Evaluation, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering Aboriginal Affairs NSW’s research agenda as part of the Truth and Healing branch. This role is central to strengthening the evidence base that informs policy, reform and decision-making across Aboriginal Affairs NSW and the broader NSW Government.
You will lead complex research, evaluation and reporting projects that embed Aboriginal voices, perspectives and lived experience into policy development and implementation. Working closely with Aboriginal communities, government partners, academic institutions and senior stakeholders, you will help shape a stronger, more culturally grounded approach to evidence, outcomes and reform. You will also provide high-level advice and support to the Head of Aboriginal Affairs and the Executive Team, translating complex evidence into clear insights, advice, reports and briefing materials for Aboriginal leadership, senior executives, oversight bodies and government stakeholders.
This is a unique opportunity to influence a new narrative in Aboriginal affairs by leading meaningful research and evaluation work that supports better outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities across NSW.

We're Looking For

Strong experience leading research, evaluation, monitoring or outcomes reporting in a policy, government, academic or community-focused setting.

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex evidence into clear, practical advice.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, set priorities and support staff to deliver quality outcomes.

A strong understanding of Aboriginal affairs, policy reform and issues affecting Aboriginal people and communities in NSW.
