CAD Draftsperson

As part of LifeHealthcare, MO Milling is a team of experienced designers, engineers and manufacturing professionals working to advance the field of medical device R&D by creating custom surgical instruments. These bespoke devices are designed to suit the unique practice preferences of our partner surgeons, enabling more efficient surgeries with improved patient outcomes.
MO Milling operates out of a design office in Canberra and a manufacturing facility in Botany, Sydney. To support the design team’s workload, MO Milling is hiring a CAD Draftsperson. For graduate or early career applicants, this role will operate full-time in person from Canberra. For experienced applicants with industry experience, this role may operate from either Canberra or Sydney with the possibility of a hybrid work-from-home arrangement once proficiency is demonstrated.
Responsibilities:
Collect and maintain design requirements for custom surgical instrument projects
Develop design concepts, 3D-printed prototypes, renders, and validation testing protocols
Create detailed 3D-Computer Aided Design models of custom surgical instruments
Create 2D technical drawings for manufacture of custom surgical instruments
Complete and review technical, traceability, and project release documentation
Required skills and experience:
Prior experience using Solidworks CAD software in engineering design and drafting.
Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
Prior experience working in product CNC manufacturing, ISO 13485, and ISO 9001 quality management systems highly regarded.
High attention to detail and strong analytical aptitude
Ability to work independently and collaborate within a small team environment.
Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks to meet production deadlines.
Proficiency using MS Word and Excel
Familiarity with 3D-printing fundamentals and Adobe Illustrator
