Details: The Emergency Services Agency is seeking applications from motivated, experienced, and suitable individuals to perform the role of Emergency Management Support Officer (EMSO). The ESA Emergency Management Support Officer will support the ESA Emergency Management Unit to achieve the Emergency Services Agency’s organisational goals and support the delivery of emergency management activities.
The ACT Emergency Services Agency is looking for a highly skilled and experienced candidate who can effectively manage competing priorities, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to collaborate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders and support operational and administrative activities. You will require a high level of attention to detail, with the individual possessing a high level of understanding in capability development, capability maintenance and capability evaluation across the comprehensive approach to emergency management.
The ESA Emergency Management Support Officer will:

Provide technical, administrative and operational support to achieve the business activities of the Emergency Management Unit and the corporate objectives of the Emergency Services Agency.

Contribute to development, application and review of whole of government emergency management coordination, collaboration and cooperation through effective liaison and communication with ESA operational and enabling services as well as government and non-government emergency management partners.

Contribute to, or lead the development and review of policies, procedures, strategies and other resources and materials relating to emergency management and consistent with ESA strategic indicators.

Where required, represent the ESA on a wide range of external groups and committees as allocated by the supervisor, senior management or executives of the ESA.

Undertake other duties and responsibilities, within capability and skills, as directed by senior management of the Emergency Management Unit or the Assistant Commissioner, Emergency Management and Collaboration.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Qualifications or experience in emergency management, government or business administration, business or operational planning or similar industry is highly desirable.

Background and security clearance checks will be conducted.

Driver’s licence class ‘C’ is essential.

To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.

If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated.

Ability to hold and maintain minimum AIIMS Level 2 incident management qualifications is highly desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of six months, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
The successful applicant may be required to work outside of normal hours in response to attend meetings or in support of operations. Additional hours worked will be remunerated in accordance with the relevant enterprise agreement.
