Summary of the role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team at VICT. This role is responsible for providing accounting and finance support while managing the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time and in compliance with contractual and legislative requirements.
The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Working closely with the Finance team and stakeholders across the business, you will contribute to financial reporting, payroll administration, budgeting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Process fortnightly and monthly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with company policies, employment agreements and legislative requirements.
- Review fortnightly labour rosters and timesheets to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Calculate leave entitlements, taxation, superannuation and termination payments.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including salary packaging arrangements.
- Complete payroll-related reporting and reconciliations, including payroll tax, WorkCover and novated lease reconciliations.
- Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including expense tracking, corporate credit card reviews and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes, including prepayments, accruals, reporting packs and variance analysis.
- Support budgeting and rolling forecast processes.
- Assist with procurement-related ERP administration and respond to system and user queries.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, providing reports, supporting documentation and responses to enquiries.
- Contribute to process improvements and undertake other finance and payroll duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
- Minimum two years’ recent experience in a similar accounting and payroll position.
- Experience processing end-to-end payroll in a medium to large organisation.
- Knowledge of SAP and Australian Awards and/or Enterprise Agreements is highly regarded but not essential.

- A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to support the broader Finance team.
