Transport Manager – 3PL & Container Transport

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Transport Manager to manage the daily transport operations of an established 3PL business based in Smeaton Grange.
This is a hands-on operational position requiring strong experience coordinating container pickups and deliveries to and from Port Botany, allocating work across rigid trucks and semi-trailers, and managing metro Sydney and short-distance regional deliveries.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of Sydney roads, strong transport allocation skills and the ability to manage drivers, vehicles and changing delivery priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate container pickups and drop-offs to and from Port Botany
- Allocate daily work to rigid trucks and semi-trailers
- Plan metro Sydney and short-distance regional deliveries
- Manage driver schedules, vehicle availability and delivery timeframes
- Monitor transport movements and respond to delays or operational issues
- Communicate daily runs and instructions clearly to drivers
- Coordinate container bookings, port time slots and relevant documentation
- Liaise with customers, warehouse staff and internal operations teams
- Ensure all transport activities comply with Chain of Responsibility requirements
- Monitor driver performance, fleet utilisation and delivery completion
- Maintain a safe, efficient and organised transport operation
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Transport Manager, Transport Allocator or Senior Transport Coordinator
- Strong experience with container transport to and from Port Botany
- Proven experience allocating work to rigid trucks and semi-trailers
- Excellent knowledge of Sydney metropolitan roads and industrial areas
- Experience managing or coordinating a company-owned fleet
- Experience across metro and short-distance regional transport
- Good understanding of container bookings, port operations and transport compliance
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced transport environment
- Knowledge of 1-Stop, CargoWise and Hutchison Ports systems is highly regarded
Training will be provided on the company’s internal software systems.
An MSIC is not required for this position.
