Teaching Load The teaching load will be determined annually by the Principal and will
reflect the learning, well-being, cultural, community and administrative
responsibilities of the role.
Role Summary
Mathematics Teachers are responsible for designing and delivering innovative teaching programs
aligned with Penrith Anglican College Learning Culture, policies, and practices. They support students
in developing their knowledge, understanding and skills in mathematics and working mathematically.
Mathematics Teachers encourage mathematical thinking through questioning, communicating,
reasoning, and reflecting and help students generalise, find connections, and think critically and
creatively, using appropriate technology to support mathematical activity. Mathematics Teachers work
as part of a team to nurture and develop learners who are relational, reflective, resilient, and
resourceful. They are committed to continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate ongoing practice that meets the Australian Professional Standards of Teachers.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the NSW syllabus documents for Mathematics,
teaching timetabled classes as required.
- Ability to teach Mathematics across Years 7 to 12 (experience teaching Mathematics
Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2 is desirable but not essential).
- Develop, implement, evaluate and document teaching and learning programs that incorporate
differentiated strategies to meet the specific learning needs of students across a range of
abilities, including the development of literacy and numeracy skills.
