Network Administrator — Job Description
Overview
Responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining an organization’s network infrastructure to ensure reliable performance, security, and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers/APs).
- Monitor network performance and availability; troubleshoot connectivity issues and outages.
- Manage routing, switching, VLANs, DNS/DHCP, VPNs, and network segmentation.
- Implement and maintain network security controls (firewalls, access control lists, MFA/VPN access, IDS/IPS where applicable).
- Perform regular maintenance (firmware/software upgrades, configuration backups, patching schedules).
- Maintain documentation for network topology, IP addressing schemes, and procedures.
- Coordinate with IT teams and external vendors on incidents, changes, and upgrades.
- Create and enforce network standards and best practices.
- Support user onboarding/offboarding by provisioning network access and related services.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of network administration experience (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing concepts, and VPN technologies.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls and network security fundamentals.
- Proficiency with network troubleshooting tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, packet captures, monitoring dashboards).
- Experience with common networking platforms (vendor-agnostic; e.g., Cisco/Juniper/Arista or similar).
- Working knowledge of scripting/automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
- Ability to work in a ticketing/ITIL-based environment and meet change management practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Network+, Security+, or vendor-specific equivalents).
- Experience with monitoring/alerting tools (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow/sFlow, SIEM integration).
- Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS/Azure/GCP) and hybrid connectivity.
- Experience with scripting for config management, backups, and reporting.

Pay: $5,833.57 – $7,085.69 per month
