Kilmartin Pharmacy
*Seymour, Victoria · Serving the community since 1973*
-----
Pharmacist
Part-time or Full-time · Permanent
Kilmartin Pharmacy has been part of the Seymour community for over 50 years. We are growing our team and looking for a pharmacist who wants more than a script-checking role. We are building toward a model where our pharmacist leads patient care — and we want the right person to help us get there. If you are looking for a role with genuine purpose, a supportive team, and room to grow, we would love to hear from you.
-----
About Us
We are a small, close knit community pharmacy with deep roots in Seymour. Our team takes pride in the standard of care we provide and the relationships we have built with our patients and the local healthcare community over decades.
We are at an exciting point in our development. We are actively investing in our dispensary technician team so that over time, our pharmacist can focus more on what only a pharmacist can do — patient counselling, clinical care, and leading health outcomes in the community. The pharmacist we bring on now will be part of shaping that journey with us.
-----
The Opportunity
Where we are heading
Over the next 6–12 months we are building a dispensary model where trained technicians manage prescription workflow and DAA packing under supervision. This will give our pharmacist increasing headroom to focus on patient care, medication reviews, chronic disease support, and relationships with local healthcare practitioners.
> This is a genuine opportunity to help build something — and to grow into a more clinical, patient-facing role as the team’s capability develops around you.
-----
What You’ll Do
This role covers the full scope of community pharmacy practice. Right now that includes a healthy mix of dispensary and patient-facing work, with the balance shifting toward clinical care over time as our team grows.
- Dispensing, prescription checking, and managing daily dispensary workflow alongside the team
- Patient counselling and consultations at the counter and point of dispensing
- Supervising and supporting dispensary technicians as they develop their competencies
- Overseeing dose administration aid (DAA) packing — supervising sessions, checking completed packs, and liaising with carers and aged care facilities
- Building relationships with GPs, specialists, nurses, and other local healthcare practitioners
- Supporting patients with chronic disease management, medication reviews, and health screening
- Contributing to the development of pharmacy systems, protocols, and team training
What We’re Looking For
Experience in community pharmacy is valued, but what matters most is the kind of person you are and how you work.
You will thrive here if you:
- Enjoy the full range of pharmacy work — clinical and operational — and take pride in doing all of it well
- Find satisfaction in building and improving things, not just maintaining the status quo
- Lead by example and set the standard through your own work
- Communicate openly and welcome feedback as part of professional growth
- Value consistency and doing things properly every time
- Are a genuine team contributor who rolls their sleeves up alongside everyone else
- Operate with a sense of urgency — you move with purpose, manage competing priorities under pressure, and keep the team moving around you
- Are available for the hours this role requires and can be clear about that from the start
**A note on our team culture**
We are a small team and we look after each other. We work to a high standard and we support each other to maintain it. The person who will love this role is someone who wants to be part of something — contributing to a team, serving a community, and helping to build a better pharmacy. If that sounds like you, we think you will feel right at home.
Hours
This role is available part-time or full-time — we are open to finding the right arrangement for the right person.
**Availability needed:**
- 2–3 weekdays per week, 9:00 – 5:30 (shorter weekday shifts can be accommodated)
- Every second Saturday, 9:00 – 12:30
We ask that you be specific about your availability when you apply — it helps us move quickly for candidates who are a strong match.
