The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).
Join a specialist trauma service and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, adults and families impacted by sexual violence. The Senior Sexual Assault Counsellor provides expert counselling, assessment, case management and advocacy to clients accessing the Sexual Assault Service. Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will support individuals and families through crisis, recovery and healing, while contributing to an integrated and trauma-informed model of care.
This senior role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with PARVAN clinicians, the Medical Forensic Unit and a range of health and community partners to ensure timely and coordinated responses for clients. In addition to providing specialist clinical care, you will contribute to key PARVAN initiatives, including the Adult Survivor Program, Safer Pathway and Safe Wayz, supporting integrated responses to violence, abuse and neglect across the district. You will also contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, education, consultation and broader PARVAN projects and strategic priorities.
We are seeking an experienced clinician with advanced trauma and violence-informed knowledge and skills, strong clinical reasoning, and the ability to work confidently with clients presenting with complex needs. You will provide consultation and support to other professionals, contribute to clinical leadership activities, and help drive innovation and best practice across the service.
The Sexual Assault Service is a highly respected tertiary trauma service that values collaboration, clinical excellence and ongoing professional growth. Staff are supported through comprehensive internal and external clinical supervision, peer consultation, cultural supervision and professional development opportunities, recognising the importance of clinician wellbeing in this challenging and rewarding area of practice.
As part of Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN), you will contribute to a service committed to improving outcomes for victim-survivors through evidence-informed, person-centred and trauma-responsive care.
