Your opportunity:
Apply relevant early childhood education and care (ECEC) legislation, standards, policies and guidelines fairly and consistently when undertaking regulatory functions within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy
Develop and maintain positive relationships with ECEC providers and services, government agencies and other stakeholders to achieve regulatory objectives.
About the Role:
The role provides the right candidate an opportunity to develop regulatory, investigative and leadership capability. Senior Regulatory Officers have opportunities to work on complex and high-profile matters, contribute to regulatory improvement projects and work with experienced regulatory practitioners.
The position also provides opportunities to build leadership capability through supporting and mentoring other officers and working closely with Principal Regulatory Officers and Managers.
This role would suit someone who enjoys complex problem-solving and wants to make a practical contribution to improving the safety, health and wellbeing of children.
About you:
Sound judgement and the confidence to make balanced, evidence-based regulatory decisions.
Strong communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with early childhood providers, services, families and other stakeholders.
A practical, solutions-focused approach to complex regulatory matters.
High levels of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
Strong attention to detail, particularly when assessing evidence and preparing regulatory documentation.
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Resilience and the ability to manage competing priorities and sensitive matters.
Experience in regulation, compliance, investigations, child safety or a similar environment would be highly regarded. The role requires strong analytical and investigative skills, including the ability to gather and assess evidence, identify risk and make sound recommendations.
Applicants should have strong written and verbal communication skills and experience preparing clear, accurate and defensible reports, correspondence and regulatory decisions. The ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy and procedures is also critical to this role.
Experience managing complex or sensitive matters and working with a range of internal and external stakeholders would be beneficial.
Applicants do not necessarily need an early childhood background. Relevant skills and experience from other regulatory, compliance, investigation, enforcement, child safety or government environments are transferable and would be welcomed.
