Sports Development Officer
Discover Sports Group | Sydney, NSW
Full-time | $75,000–$85,000 + super
Discover Sports Group (DSG) is one of NSW's fastest-growing multi-sport operators, running six venues across Sydney and Newcastle. We're looking for the right person to help build something special.
This is a role for someone who thinks about how sports communities are built, how participation grows, and how programmes are designed to keep people coming back.
What you'll be doing
- Plan and implement sports participation initiatives across DSG's tennis, padel and pickleball programmes
- Develop community pathways that bring new players into the sport at junior, adult and social levels
- Coordinate and promote sporting activities across all six DSG venues
- Work with Tennis Australia, Padel Australia and relevant state bodies to align programmes with national development frameworks
- Identify participation trends and programme performance data to inform strategic decisions
- Build relationships with schools, community groups and local organisations to drive participation growth
- Support the design and delivery of events, competitions and social leagues that retain and grow the player base
- Manage relationships with venue managers, coaches and key stakeholders across the group
What we're looking for
- An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Sport, Physical Education, Sports Management or a related field — or a minimum of three years of relevant experience in sports development or participation coordination
- Demonstrated experience planning and implementing sports participation or community development programmes
- Strong working knowledge of racket sports (tennis, padel or pickleball experience preferred)
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
- Organised and self-directed, comfortable managing multiple venues and programmes simultaneously
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
Why DSG
- Six venues and growing — real scope to shape how racket sports develops in NSW
- A tight-knit leadership team that moves fast and builds things properly
- A business at an exciting inflection point — you won't be maintaining someone else's system, you'll be building the next one
- Sydney / NSW base with genuine exposure to national sport development networks
