Job Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate frames, considering their visual needs, prescription requirements, and personal style preferences.
- Interpret optical prescriptions — including complex and high-difficulty scripts — and provide expert advice on lens options, materials, and designs to optimise vision and enhance the overall eyewear experience.
- Apply specialist knowledge to manage complex lens orders, including multifocals, high-powered prescriptions, and specialty lens types, ensuring accuracy and the best possible visual outcome for each patient.
- Troubleshoot and resolve eyewear issues — including fit, comfort, optical performance, and adaptation concerns — drawing on deep technical knowledge to deliver solutions.
- Conduct frame adjustments, repairs, and minor maintenance, ensuring optimal fit and comfort for patients.
- Place and track orders for lenses, frames, and other eyewear accessories, coordinating with external suppliers and maintaining inventory control.
- Train, mentor, and supervise new and less experienced dispensing staff, sharing technical expertise and upholding the high standards of optical care that define Quinn & Co. Eyecare Horsham.
- Review sales performance data to identify trends, product opportunities, and areas for growth, and translate those insights into practical coaching, team development, and promotional ideas that drive business outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with optometrists, support staff, and other team members to ensure seamless patient care and satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years' optical dispensing experience is essential.
- Exceptional customer service and sales skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment and is able to remain calm under pressure.
- Demonstrates a growth mindset and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Good computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
